Conditions in the ADK High Peaks

Pete Schultz gave this report from his recent trip to the Adirondack High Peaks area:

Just got back from hiking in the High Peaks. Give you an idea as to current trail conditions. Climbed Noonmark Mtn in Keene and there was about a foot of snow at the trail head. Trail was hard packed with 2-4″ of powder on top. At 3500ft snow was 3-5ft with plenty of ice on exposed summit. Preferred crampons on the ascent for sure. Snow shoes with cleats worked but took a little longer. These conditions will probably change but to give everyone an idea what to expect. Winds on the summit were about 30-50mph. Spent a whole 30 seconds on top.

We are planning a return visit to the High Peaks over Martin Luther King weekend.
